Northern New Jersey Squash Racquets Association

This is a unique and eclectic compilation of varied squash resources and coaching tips.
By design I've limited deep links into Annotated Bookmark sites on the link page including: guide-to-squash.org, USSRA, Squashtalk, Squashclub.org, and Squash Magazine web sites which are all wonderful resources and are available on the Annotated Bookmarks Page.
I've focused on cataloging tips or resources from less familiar web sites. Hopefully you will find some useful "gems" in here. Send additions or corrections to the NNJSRA Webmaster.

The best squash book on the web is made available from the excellent coaching and physical education resource site TEACHPE.COM.

It is a 3.5 megabyte PDF file so it may take some time to download:

The Wikipedia is a free content encyclopedia written collaboratively by people from all around the world. The site is a wiki, which means that anyone can edit articles, simply by clicking on the edit this page link. The article on squash is excellent, however, it needs some added depth of content. If you are so inclined it is worth making a contribution.

There is also a nice list of Male and Female International Players, but there are a number of additional players that could be added to the list to make it more comprehensive.

geoff mitchell I highly recommend you check out Geoff Mitchell's PRO Squash articles archived on this site. Geoff's MitchellSquash.com website is focused on promoting local junior tournaments, and junior and adult squash programs. Geoff Mitchell has been teaching at the Chatham Club in New Jersey for fifteen years. His junior program is recognized as one of the strongest in the country with upwards of 20 juniors ranked nationally each year. As a player, Geoff was a finalist in the 1998 World Masters 30+, a semi-finalist in the 1998 US Championships 30+, and in the 1999 North American Teaching Pro Tournament of Champions. Articles here have been published in Squash Magazine and/or Squash Central (NNJSRA publication), and Geoff has given permission to have these available here to the online community.
From A Different Angle Enough of the mundane redundant teaching expressions "bend your knees," get your racquet up early," "follow through," "keep your eye on the ball," "watch your opponent" and "get to the T" etc.

Pressure Cooking Squash SQUASH HAS BEEN CALLED THE "thinking man's game," and if you've ever watched a smart player play a younger fitter, faster and a more athletically inclined opponent lacking only in experience or brains, then you'll have witnessed an amusing event.

Back to Squash Basics The following advice, useful to any athlete, applies particularly to those squash players who take a summer break from the game.

Getting Better Without Drills I have coached many students over the years who have wanted to improve their games without practicing or drilling.
